Tignes and its surroundings
Lac de Tignes: this is one of the resort’s must-visit spots and offers a huge range of different activities, in summer (canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding) and winter (diving) alike.
The Grande Motte glacier: seven minutes (Perce-Neige funicular followed by cable-car) gets you to the resort’s highest point at an elevation of 3,656 m.
The Lac du Chevril and its hydroelectric dam: 180 m high, 300 m long and 43 m wide: introducing France’s highest dam.
Tignes 1800: once flooded by the dam’s waters, this little village is a replica of the old town that was once clustered around its church.
Les Brevières: a traditional little village at the foot of the dam, at elevation of 1,550 m.
