At the foot of the Col de Galibier
Perched 1,430 metres high at the foot of the Col du Galibier mountain pass, the village and resort of Valloire takes its name from ‘Vallée d’Or’, meaning ‘golden valley’, and welcomes you into a warm, friendly place packed full of things for visitors of all ages to see and do throughout the year.
With its photogenic architecture and refined interiors, the four-star Résidence Les Chalets du Galibier is a full immersion in authentic Savoie for holidays with a difference.
After a day of adventure, unwind in the Résidence Les Chalets du Galibier’s two heated pools, both of which are open throughout the year.
In summer, Valloire enjoys sunny, dry weather conditions that make it perfect for the resort’s many different sports activities: via ferrata, hang-gliding, horse-riding and golf, to name but a few.
In winter, a full 150 kilometres of skin runs for all levels let you get out and about. Thanks to its 400 snow cannons, enjoy guaranteed snow from December to late April.
Whether for a week or a handful of days, summer and winter alike, your holidays at the four-star Résidence Les Chalets du Galibier offer the chance to recharge your batteries and get away from everyday stress in an enchanting location where memories are just waiting to be made.

Don’t miss out on a tour of the Notre Dame de l’Assomption Baroque church: emblematic of 17th-century Baroque art in Savoie, this church was built in 1682 by the Bishop of Maurienne Monseigneur Hercule Berzetti. Unassuming and understated from the outside, push open the doors for a glimpse of its spectacular interior.
The mountain farms regularly fling open their doors for tours and tasting sessions, giving you the chance to sample Savoyard produce throughout the year.
Come winter, explore the snow cave: perched high at the top of the La Brive cable-car, visitors are invited into the icy depths of the Grotte de Neige. The frozen tunnels here lead deep into a mesmerising natural spectacle populated by snow and ice sculptures. Experience a night in an igloo: a magical overnight igloo stay that’s perfect for star-gazing. To get to the igloo village and five ice caves at Le Crey du Quart, slip on your snowshoes and expect roughly an hour’s walk.
